Alluvial plain

Gently sloping tract produced by deposition of alluvial material consisting of gravel, sand, silt and clay of varying lithology.

Tone: Bright red for cropland. Smooth Texture, irregular shape, curvilinear outlines, contiguous pattern.

Alluvium

Gentle

(0 - 7)

Low

Good to moderate

Ravenous/Gullied land

Ravine is usually associated not with an isolated gully but an intricate network of gullies formed generally in deep alluvium and entering a nearby river, flowing much lower than the surrounding tablelands.

Tone: dark brown tone, uneven nd rough texture, and moderate to high drainage density, with linear to dendritic drainage pattern.

Alluvium

Gentle

Moderate- high

Moderate to poor

Buried pediment

Unconsolidated alluvial materials fill irregularities on the sandstone surfaces. Mostly vegetated or cultivated lying at foot hills.

Tone: light green, fine texture, irregular shape and elongated, contiguous pattern

Alluvium

Gentle- moderate

Low- moderate

Good to moderate

Hills and ridges

Acts as barrier as well as carrier for ground-water flow represents areas of high runoff. This unit represents Vindhyan sandstone.

Tone: green to dark green, Coarse texture, shape linear, contiguous pattern. Development of 1st order drainage.

Sandstone

Moderate- Steep

Very poor to poor

Plateau

Flat topped and arcuate, showing definite trends, scanty vegetation. Weathering is also found at some places. Quarrying activity at few places.

Tone: dark green for rock exposure to white for rock quarrying, coarse texture, irregular, dominated by linear eatures. Sparse or no vegetation, presence of quarrying activity.

Sandstone

Intermontane valley

Depression between the mountains, generally narrow and linear, filled with colluvial and fluvial deposits of varying grain size mostly sand, silt and clay.

Tone: light grey, coarse texture, irregular shape, linear and contiguous pattern, sub parallel drainage.

Sandstone

Residual hill

It represents Vindhyan sandstone, act as runoff zone.

Tone: light greyish to greenish for rock exposures. Coarse texture, shape and size-irregular and rounded, contiguous pattern. Drainage is parallel.
